Soapbox Moment: Recycling - Am I bovvered?

The number of people who can’t be bothered to recycle is shocking. Most councils now provide dedicated bins for collecting recycled waste. Although most councils don’t recycle everything, they do recycle quite a lot and there’s no excuse to not recycle.
You can usually recycle paper, cardboard, aluminium and tin cans. Some councils also provide recycling for garden waste, plastic bottles and glass, though its unusual to get all three of those for any given council.
Really, is it any effort to put some waste in a different bin? Perhaps collect some of it in a plastic bag to avoid going out to the main bin all of the time, but still, really easy.
If you think what would happen to the world if everyone adopted that same pathetic attitude? Think of the police, nurses, fire services, ambulance crews, charity volunteers, teachers, and many others who earn a low wage, but still dedicate their working lives to helping others. And you can’t be bothered to put plastic bottle in a different bin?
Everyone needs to do their bit, as the planet is rapidly dying. Probably too late to save it completely now, but we can certainly get into good habits and start to reverse some of the damage we’ve done in the last 100 years!
Am I bovvered? Well, actually, yeah I am!

Whilst doing my random browsing over the web, I found these really amazingly crafted trees. I imagine that there’s a whole club or society dedicated to growing trees like these!

Whilst looking around for some hints and tips on the very characteristic user-centric web 2.0 design, I found a number of resources that you might find useful. For a number of resources on building a web 2.0 website from scratch, here are 30 resources on simplehelp.net.
For some very detailed Web 2.0 design tips, webdesignfromscratch.com has a number of specific design tips. For playing around with aqua style buttons, then here is a photoshop-based tutorial for a Web 2.0 header.
I hope that they come in useful. I intend to look at them in more detail for my more important websites.

I’ve started my changes in the JagoNetwork now, and I am selling off one of my popular sites DirectorySpy.com on the Digital Point forums. I also am planning to sell one of my directories, and kill off one of my sites.
This is to greatly simplify the network so that I can spend more time on other projects. This also means I can give my current websites more time for development.
Finally! TV Out working on my Jetway J7F2!

I finally got the TV out working on my mini itx system! I had spent ages changing BIOS settings and playing around with the xorg.conf configuration file in an attempt to get some output on the TV.
In the end, it was a jumper setting to enable S-VHS/composite output which was completely hidden under a LCD daughter board that has been installed by the previous owner (I purchased the box 2nd hand as a complete system). I found out about it by doing much searching and finding a Jetway motherboard manual for a very similar motherboard to my own.
I had already installed the OpenChrome Via Display Adaptor Drivers and I was certain they were working correctly due to the output messages I was reading in the xorg log file. With some help from Adam, we set up the xorg.conf using details provided for getting TV out working with OpenChrome.
Now that TV out works, I’m playing around with DVD, MP3 and DivX support. Hurrah!
Trouble getting TV Out on a Mini ITX PC

A while ago, I treated myself to a mini ITX PC. I’m looking to move to a Myth TV box (based on Ubuntu Linux), but before I buy a perfect system, I want to get the mini ITX working with the TV first. However, I cannot get the PC to recognise the TV at all. I’m expecting the PC to detect the TV on boot, but its not.
I’ve looked in the BIOS, and can’t see anything. Fiddling with the driver under Linux doesn’t appear to work. Any ideas?
Waltzing Waters - on the Isle of Wight

At the weekend, Annie and I went to the Isle of Wight. Apart from getting sunburn on Saturday and then soaked to the bone on the Sunday, it was a fantastic weekend.
On the Friday evening we went to see Waltzing Waters in Ryde, which is a show of water fountains dancing to music! It’s basically an insane version of a sound-to-light system. A little too large for me to have one installed at home though…
We also had a visit to the Isle of Wight Zoo to see a few big cats and some of my family (monkeys in case you wondered). We stayed in a fantastic B&B in Sandown, treated to great service, fried breakfasts, and chocy bars too!
We also played crazy golf, spent a few pennies in the amusements, and sat in a freezing cold cinema where half of the seating area was flooded! My first visit to the Isle of Wight? An adventure.
Third cheque payment from GreasyPalm

I received another cheque from GreasyPalm this week, for £28.23. This brings my total earnings to over £80. It’s a good way to make some money on your purchases.
GreasyPalm have recently improved their click tracking, so getting paid should be a lot more reliable now! These kinds of cashback sites are popping up all over the place. Quidco is a new one that I am experimenting with, which has roughly a 50% better cashback rate compared to GreasyPalm.
Changing the network…

With recent changes in the SEO and webmaster world, I’ve decided to make some big changes to the JagoNetwork. I’m already at the stage where the number of websites I have are difficult to manage. I have plans to sell off a couple of websites, but that will happen at the end of July when a contract expires. For now, I am shifting the emphasis to just a few of my websites.
